A Flawed Microsoft Update Breaks KMR Software
A Microsoft Windows update has caused older versions of our software to stop working on some computers running Windows XP. The latest versions of our products are not affected by this problem.
You are affected if you have installed Microsoft updates KB928843 and KB925902, and get the following error message whenever you try to run one of our products (Personal Timeclock, Crypto!, SudoKoach, some of our free utilities):
Microsoft admits that the new files that are installed on your computer with these two updates conflict with each other. Note that neither of these two files are supplied with any of our products; our software relies upon these files as supplied by the Windows operating system.
There are two ways to fix this problem. If you are using Crypto version 3.0 through 3.8, Personal Timeclock version 4.0 through 4.3, or SudoKoach version 2.0, contact us and we'll send you a copy of the latest version of the program.
If you have an older version of one of our products, try this alternate approach instead. Microsoft has provided a "hot fix" to resolve this situation. To install this hot fix on your computer, follow these steps:
Note: Microsoft has changed the contents of these web pages several times, and may change them again in the future. If what you see doesn't match what we're describing, follow their instructions to install the package. If you aren't sure what to do, contact us for assistance!
